Two killed in separate train accidents in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, April 21, 2026 (BSS) - Two people, including a woman were killed after being hit by trains in Charghat upazila of Rajshahi.

Police said an unidentified woman, aged around 35, died at Holidagachhi area at about 8:45am today after being hit by a train.

According to railway and local sources, the incident occurred when a train was passing through the Holidagachhi rail gate area under Shalua Union. Locals later found the woman dead at the scene. Her identity could not be confirmed immediately.

In a separate incident on Monday night, a 25-year-old man named Sohag, son of Julum Pramanik of Kalabipara village in Nimpara Union, died after being hit by a train in the Habibpur Kalabipara area.

Locals said Sohag was struck by a train while crossing or near the railway line and died on the spot. They also claimed he had been under the influence of alcohol at the time.

Railway officials confirmed both deaths and said police recovered the bodies and sent them to a local hospital morgue for autopsy.

Ishwardi Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ziaur Rahman said police visited both sites and legal procedures were underway.
