Two brick kilns fined Tk 10 lac in Manikganj

MANIKGANJ, April 21, 2026 (BSS) - The Department of Environment yesterday fined two brick kilns TK 10 lakh in Manikganj for running their businesses without clearance certificates and permission.

On information, the Executive Magistrate of the Department of Environment Foyjun Nesa Akter, conducted a special drive at Mrs Malek Bricks in the village Khagrakuri under Dighi Union of Manikganj Sadar Upazila and fined TK five lac.

Another drive in Kandapar village of Saturia Upazila of the district, the Executive Magistrate also fined Tk 5 lac for the illegal operation of Mrs Khan Bricks.

Speaking on the matter, DoE Deputy Director of Environment Abdullah Al Mamun said that the brick kilns were operating illegally without any proper permission and certificates from the Department of Environment, adding that such drives would continue to prevent environmental damage and uphold the regulations set forth by the DoE.
