One held with 12,000 Yaba in Rangpur

RANGPUR, July 1, 2026 (BSS) - The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) 
personnel recovered 12,000 pieces of Yaba tablets from tea packets that came 
from Cox's Bazar in Rangpur via courier service and arrested an alleged drug 
dealer today (Wednesday).
 
Deputy Director of Rangpur District DNC Md Abu Jafar confirmed this 
information to BSS this afternoon. 
 
"We recovered a large consignment of Yaba tablets from the SA Paribahan 
counter at the city's Fire Service Station and arrested drug dealer Mansur 
Mondal alias Boda red-handed from the spot this morning," he said. 
 
Mansur Mondal is the son of Md Jalal Mondal of Kanchanpur village in Pirganj 
upazila of the district. 
 
Based on secret information, the Rangpur and Bogura District DNC personnel 
took up positions in the SA Paribahan counter area in Rangpur metropolis 
undercover. 
 
At one point, they caught drug dealer Mansur Mondal red-handed when he came 
to collect Yaba tablets from Cox's Bazar in tea packets sent by courier 
service. 
 
At that time, 12,000 pieces of the contraband drugs worth over Taka 25-lakh 
were recovered from inside the tea packet. 
 
Abu Jafar said that Mansur Mondal has a tea shop in Cox's Bazar. Under the 
guise of his tea business, he used to bring large consignments of Yaba 
tablets from Cox's Bazar and sell them to different parts of the country, 
including Rangpur. 
 
A drive is underway to arrest others in the gang involved in these 
activities. 
 
"Further legal proceedings are underway against the arrested accused," he 
added.
