DHAKA, May 23, 2025 (BSS) - Fact-checking body "Rumor Scanner" in an investigation found that the viral issue of the presence of US forces in Cox's Bazar is a misleading propaganda.

The fact checking team of the Rumor Scanner mentioned that in fact, under the arrangement of US Embassy in Dhaka, this kind of training programmes are being conducted in the last few years.

So, this kind of training is not new and the viral issue is misleading propaganda, they opined.

According to Rumor Scanner, the rate of spreading false information involving Bangladesh has increased since last year from Indian media and various social media accounts operated from India.

Moreover, fact-checking has found evidence that a group from home and abroad is systematically spreading rumors, misinformation, and disinformation about various issues of Bangladesh.

Rumor Scanner identified 296 pieces of misinformation spreading on the internet in April alone.
