MOSCOW, April 1, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - China is ready to play a "constructive role" in ending the war in Ukraine but backs Russia in defending its "interests", top diplomat Wang Yi told Russian state news agency Ria Novosti in an interview published on Tuesday.

"China is ready, while taking into account the aspirations of the parties involved, to play a constructive role with the international community... in the settlement of the conflict," Wang said, according to the agency ahead of a meeting with his Russian counterpart in Moscow.
