Filling station fined Tk 2 lakh for illegal LPG cross-filling in Khulna

KHULNA, Aug 9, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court today fined Suraiya Auto Gas Filling Station in Dumuria upazila here in the district Tk 2 lakh for illegally cross-filling LPG cylinders.

The mobile court, led by Dumuria Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Aprotim Kumar Chakraborty, also sealed the station as it lacked valid documentation required for operation.

Rezaul Gazi, owner of the filling station and son of Mannat Gazi from Katakhal area, was found to have been conducting dangerous and unauthorized gas refilling operations for an extended period. The practice not only posed a serious safety risk but also deceived customers with under-filled cylinders.

The action was taken after local residents intercepted a pickup van transporting 68 illegally filled LPG cylinders of various brands. Following the tip-off, a joint forces team responded promptly, and the mobile court imposed the fine and sealed the facility.

Executive Magistrate Chakraborty confirmed that such illegal activities would not be tolerated, and similar drives would continue to prevent hazardous practices and ensure public safety.
