DHAKA, April 13, 2026 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today convicted and sentenced two people to life imprisonment in a case filed over the seizure of 118 grams of heroin from the Dayaganj area under Jatrabari Police Station in 2019.

The two convicts are Emran and Robin.

Dhaka 3rd Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Moin Uddin Chowdhury pronounced the judgment this afternoon. The court also acquitted one Sanjida as the charges brought against her were not proved.

According to the case documents, police, during a raid on January 23, 2019, detained Emran and Robin from the Dayaganj area, while two other suspected drug peddlers—Baby and Sanjida—managed to flee.

Police filed the case the same day under the Narcotics Control Act. The charge sheet was submitted on April 23, 2019, against Emran, Robin and Sanjida.

The court framed charges in the case on June 27, 2019. A total of five witnesses testified on different hearing dates.
