DNCC pledges to free fields, parks from encroachment of clubs

DHAKA, Aug 20, 2025 (BSS) - A platform under the banner 'Math, Park Joladhar Dokhol Mukto Andolon (Field, Park, Water Reservoir Encroachment Free Movement) has demanded to free the parks and fields under the DNCC from encroachment of the clubs and ensure their free uses. 
 
A delegation of the platform today met Administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mohammad Azaz at the DNCC Conference Room. 
 
During the meeting, they demanded immediate steps of making the fields and parks under the DNCC from occupation of the clubs and ensuring their free uses. 
 
In the meeting, the DNCC administrator conveyed his support for the movement and said that steps would be taken to free the park and fields from encroachment of the clubs. 
 
At the same time, he has announced plans to build more new fields and parks under the DNCC areas.
 
During the meeting, environmentalist personality and founder of Pallima Sangsad Hafizur Rahman Moyna, member of the Constitutional Reform Commission Firoz Ahmed, member-secretary of the Public Health Lawyers Network Barrister Nishat Mahmud, chief coordinator of the Tentultala Math Bachao Andolan Syeda Ratna, organizer of Save Dhanmondi Playgrounds Syed Istiak Ahmed, public health and policy analyst Advocate Syed Mahbubul Alam and member of the Field, Park and Reservoir Encroachment Free Movement Ibrahim Khalil.
