Mirza Fakhrul, 64 others acquitted in explosives case

DHAKA, Aug 21, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today acquitted 65 people, including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in a case lodged under the Explosive Substances Act with the city's Ramna Police Station.

The acquitted BNP leaders also include Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Barkat Ullah Bulu, Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Joynal Abedin Farook, Engineer Ishraq Hossain and Nasir Uddin Ashim.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, accepting the final report submitted by police in the case.
 
According to case documents, police filed the case on October 31, 2023, over cocktail blasts in the capital centering BNP's grand rally on October 28.

The investigation officer later filed final reports in two separate cases over the incidents on October 21, 2024. 

The court today accepted the final report in the explosives case and acquitted all accused.
