DHAKA, Aug 26, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed today said whoever speaks against the election will be minus from the political field.

“If any party does not participate in the election, it will be their political independence. Those who boycott using excuses will themselves become minus from future politics,” he told journalists at Gulshan residence here.

Salahuddin said there is no fear that the election will be held next February. However, two or three parties are trying to create confusion; this could be their political strategy, he added.

Expressing BNP's expectations regarding the elections, he said, a fair election will be held in the country maintaining anti-fascist national unity.

This election will even be a historic event in political history, he hoped.

Stating that the demand of PR system or Constituent Assembly's is a political strategy, the senior BNP leader said there is an election mood in the country, whoever speaks against it will be minus.

Salahuddin said BNP considers some of the July Charter commitments to be unreasonable. No issue that takes a place above the constitution will be acceptable, he said.

He expected political parties to reach a consensus through discussions.
