Drug dealer held with 33-kg cannabis in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, April 8, 2026 (BSS) - A drug dealer has been arrested in Rajshahi with 33 kg of cannabis during a raid by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-5).
 
Acting on a tip-off, an operation team from RAB-5's Sadar Company in Rajshahi conducted a drive around 4:30 am on Wednesday in the Boro Bongram Sheikhpara area of the city. 

During the raid, one drug dealer was arrested while storing cannabis in an abandoned plot using a novel method.
 
The arrested Sri Ram Sarkar Ram, is the son of Sri Nimai Sarkar and a resident of the Bongram Sheikhpara area of the city.
 
Based on information provided by the detainee, RAB conducted another raid in the same area and recovered 33 kg of cannabis, a mobile phone, and two SIM cards.
 
According to RAB, the arrested individual had long been involved in collecting illegal drugs through various means and selling them in different parts of the city. 

During preliminary interrogation, he admitted that the recovered cannabis had been stored for the purpose of sale.
 
A case was recorded with Shah Makhdum Police Station in Rajshahi Metropolitan City.
