Man killed in Chapainawabganj road crash

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, April 8, 2026 (BSS) - A man was killed and his younger brother seriously injured after a brick-laden trolley overturned in Shibganj upazila of the district on Wednesday morning.
 
The deceased was Abdus Samad, 35, son of Jalal Uddin from Ranibari Chandpur village in Chakkirti Union of the upazila. His younger brother, Sarwar, 17, sustained severe injuries in the incident.
 
The accident occurred around 8:00 am in Harinagar area under Naylavhanga union along the Chapainawabganj–Sonamasjid highway.
 
According to police, the trolley lost control and overturned while carrying bricks, killing driver, Abdus Samad, on the spot. Sarwar, who was accompanying him, was critically injured.
 
Locals quickly rushed to the spot and rescued Sarwar. He was taken to Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
 
Sub-Inspector DK Tanmoy of Shibganj Police Station confirmed the incident. Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) SM Shakil Hasan said the body was handed over to the victim’s family.
