DHAKA, May 21, 2025 (BSS) - Principal Information Officer (PIO) of the Press Information Department (PID) Md Nizamul Kabir today said that youth must be engaged in combating misinformation and in making information services more public welfare-oriented.

"The youth should have the same level of participation in building the future of Bangladesh as they had participated spontaneously in the July mass uprising," he said while addressing a discussion titled 'Youth's Progress and the Future of Bangladesh' at the PID meeting room at the Secretariat here.

He informed the audience that the PID has already formulated a work plan for 'Tarunnyer Utsab' (Youth Festival).

The Information Ministry has taken an initiative to form a committee to formulate and implement an action plan for youth advancement, Ahmed said in his speech, urging the officials concerned to implement the PID's work plan regarding the youth festival.

According to the PID work plan, the headquarters and regional information offices will organize seminars, discussions, and workshops titled 'Youth Progress and Future Bangladesh', where the opinions and participation of the youth will be taken into cognizance.

Initiatives have also been taken to publish features and articles on youth progress.

Officials of the PID, including public relations officers of various ministries, were present at the discussion.
