DHAKA, April 4, 2026 (BSS) – Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma has said art remains a powerful medium connecting the people of Bangladesh and India, fostering closer cultural bonds between the two neighbours.

“In India-Bangladesh relationship, art is a very strong medium that brings our people together. It manifests that connection,” he said.

The Indian envoy was inaugurating an art exhibition titled “CROSSROAD… not a project” at Galleri Kaya in Dhaka on Friday, according to a press release issued by the Indian High Commission here today.

The envoy said beyond shared history, geography, language, culture and traditions, art has consistently served as a foundational connector between the two countries.

He noted that exchanges of art and artists have long been an integral part of bilateral engagement, inspiring collaboration and mutual influence that have produced notable creative works.

Verma expressed hope for expanded cultural exchanges in the field of art, affirming that India would continue to facilitate, enable and encourage such initiatives.

The exhibition features works by 11 contemporary Bangladeshi artists, including scholars of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), covering diverse themes ranging from tributes to Language Movement martyrs to portrayals of everyday life and nature.
