DHAKA, Mar 8, 2026 (BSS) - The government has instructed the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to conduct mobile courts to ensure proper supply of fuel and prevent irregularities.

A notification signed by Md. Enamul Haque, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources issued this directive today.

The notification states that, in light of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, some unscrupulous traders have been hoarding fuel to create artificial shortages, as reported in various media outlets.

To address this, the government has already set limits on fuel allocation for vehicles. Despite this, in some petrol pumps and filling stations, fuel is being sold above the government-set price, hoarded for extra profit, or illegally traded in the open market.

The notification further stated that under these circumstances, fuel hoarding, selling above the government price, open-market sales and smuggling must be stopped. Mobile courts should be deployed and fuel administrators are requested to provide necessary instructions to ensure proper enforcement.
