CMP installs 269 CCTV cameras at 81 spots for constant surveillance

CHATTOGRAM, March 8, 2026 (BSS) - Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has installed 269 CCTV cameras at 81 strategic locations under nine police stations in the port city to strengthen surveillance and improve law and order.

The initiative, launched on Sunday, aims to introduce a comprehensive monitoring system to help combat crime and enhance public safety. CMP sources said the surveillance network will be expanded to other areas of the metropolis in phases.

CMP Commissioner Hasib Aziz inaugurated the monitoring system by unveiling a plaque at the CMP control room in Dampara on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking at the ceremony, the commissioner said the proper use of modern technology is essential to ensure civic safety, maintain law and order and prevent criminal activities.

He added that the introduction of the comprehensive monitoring system will make anti-crime operations faster and more effective, while bringing important locations of the city under round-the-clock surveillance.

Among others, CMP Additional Commissioner (Traffic) Wahidul Haque Chowdhury and Deputy Police Commissioner (Headquarters) Md Ferdous Ali Chowdhury were present at the function.
