DHAKA, March 31, 2026 (BSS) – The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has opened important road and sewerage development work from Mirpur-10 to Taltola area to remove waterlogging.
“This project is being seen as an important step to alleviate long-standing suffering,” DNCC Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan told journalists while formally inaugurating the development work as the chief guest at a programme at Mirpur-10 Falpatti area this morning.
He said under the project, about 4 kilometers of road will be developed from Mirpur-10 to Taltola while modern drains and sewerage system will be constructed on both sides of the road.
This would help mitigate the long-standing waterlogging problem during the monsoon season at a large extent, he hoped.
This project work is being implemented under the project IDRISP, which aims to improve the damaged road infrastructure of DNCC Region-2 and Region-4 and the service package of Region-5.
“The target has been set to complete the work by October 31 this year. If there is no major natural disaster, it will be possible to complete the work within the stipulated time,” the DNCC administrator added.
Stressing the importance of keeping the sidewalks free from encroachment, he sought the cooperation of the locals.
DNCC Chief Engineer Brigadier General Syed Raqibul Hasan, Project Director Khandaker Mahbub Alam, regional executive officers concerned, executive engineers and leaders of various political and social organizations were also present there.
