Minor girl electrocuted in Jhenaidah

JHENAIDAH, May 1, 2025 (BSS) - A six-year-old girl tragically died after being electrocuted by a torn electric wire in Kazipara area under Maheshpur upazila of the district this afternoon.

The deceased was Ilma, daughter of expatriate Anwar Hossain, a resident of Fatehpur village of the upazila. The child and her mother lived in a rented house at Kazipara of Maheshpur municipality town.

Police and locals said Ilma was playing in an open place near their house at noon. At that time, the child accidentally touched a torn, live electric wire lying on the ground and got electrocuted.

Locals rescued the girl and took her to Maheshpur Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared the child dead.

Maheshpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam said, "We have visited the spot. Action will be taken after investigation if any complaint is filed."
