Two killed in Jhalakathi road accident

JHALAKATHI, May 3, 2025 (BSS) - Two people were killed and two others injured in a road accident in Bakultala area under Nalchity upazila of the district today.

The deceased were Md. Hashem Howlader, 70, hailed from Bakerganj upazila and Md. Shamim, 50, son of Ishtak Ali, a resident of Falaghar village of the upazila.

The accident occurred on the Barisal-Patuakhali highway around 11 am when a Mahindra (three-wheeler) hit an auto-rickshaw, parked on the side of the road, as its driver lost control of the vehicle while giving way to a passenger bus, said Abdus Salam, Officer-in-Charge of (OC) of Nalchity Police Station.

Two Mahendra passengers died on the spot and two others were injured, he added.

The injured were taken to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barisal in critical condition.
