Fisheries dept to increase fish fry's quality, increase its production: DG

SYLHET, June 21, 2025 (BSS) - Fisheries Department Director General Dr. Md. 
Abdur Rouf said a new project has been taken up to increase the quality of 
fish fry and increase production using modern methods and technology. 

"This will reduce production costs and benefit fish farmers", the DG said 
while addressing a workshop in Sylhet today.

The district-level regional workshop was organised under the Infrastructure 
Development Project (Phase 1) to increase the capacity of existing fish farms 
and increase fish production.

Divisional Director of the Department Md. Asadul Baki presided over the 
workshop and District Fisheries Officer Seema Rani Bishwas delivered the 
welcome speech. 

Project Director Md. Mashiur Rahman presented the keynote address. 

Farm owners, entrepreneurs, fishermen, fisheries officials and media workers 
participated in the open discussion moderated by M Ashrafuzzaman, deputy 
director of Divisional Office in Sylhet.

At the beginning, a minute of silence was observed in memory of those who 
lost their lives during the July-August uprising.
