Rohingya youth held with 1.20 lakh yaba tablets in Bandarban

BANDARBAN, June 21, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive arrested a Rohingya youth with 1.20 lakh pieces of yaba tablets at the Naikshongchhari border of the district.

The arrested youth was Md. Shahid, 19, a resident of Block-B/74 of Camp-8 (East) of Ukhia Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar.

Being informed, a BGB team conducted a drive in Jamal Gher area of Ghumdhum Noapara around 6.15 am and arrested the youth with the yaba tablets, according to BGB. 

BGB-34 Commander Lieutenant Colonel SM Khairul Alam said, “Our drive to eradicate smuggling and drugs in the border area will continue. The arrested accused has been handed over to the concerned police station for legal action.”
