350 illegal structures demolished in Laksam

CUMILLA, Aug 20, 2025 (BSS) - Laksam upazila administration and Roads and Highways Department today demolished over 350 illegal structures built on both sides of the Chandpur-Cumilla regional highway to ease traffic congestion and public suffering.

The eviction drive was conducted by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kausar Hamid at Bijra and Mudaffarganj Bazars of laksam upazila from morning to afternoon.

The team demolished various markets, concrete buildings and floating shops built on the side of the highway.

Cumilla Roads and Highways Department Sub-Divisional Engineer Mohammad Adnan Ibne Hasan, Laksam Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Nizam Uddin and members of the police and army were present during the operation.

These establishments had been occupying the highway for a long time, creating obstacles in traffic.
